The apostles also spoke of resurrection, immortality, judgment, and an inheritance approaching with Christ’s return. The Spirit was their deposit of that promised inheritance while they awaited its fulfillment. Reading those passages in their first-century setting helps us recognize eternal life as a present reality rather than a hope still postponed.
